Jennifer Garner is a West Virginia native born in Houston on the 17th April in 1972. William John Garner is her father. He worked as chemical engineers for Union Carbide. Her mother Patricia Ann taught at a local university. In order to continue in the tradition of her father, she earned a degree as a chemical engineer. In order to fulfil her dream to become an actress, she relocated to New York. As she appeared in Broadway plays, she also was a waitress at the nearby restaurant. Her former husband Scott Foley met her on the TV show "Felicity," where she appeared as a character. She got her big break with the action-thriller "Alias." Garner's first leading role was the highly acclaimed romance "13 Going on 30." She played the role of a teenager caught stuck in the body of a 30-year-old. Garner chose Gary Winick to direct the film. They continued to look for other films together up until the time of his passing away in the year 2011. Garner has been designated as an artist ambassador by Save the Children U.S.A. in 2009, was an important role within the group. The program focuses on education, nutrition, and literacy as well as early education. Garner was elected as a director on the board of the non-profit in 2014. Garner advocates for early developmental stages of children. As a member of the Early Steps to School Success (EASS) program's ambassador team Garner regularly visits families to coach them on ways to encourage their young children to be successful.
